Buy a block-off kit. Most vendors and site sponsors carry them. Then, remove the EGR tube from the exhaust manifold to intake manifold and block it off. Remove the EGR valve, solenoid, and vacuum line and plug the fitting on the intake manifold with a vacuum cap. Have the PCM reprogrammed to clear the EGR operation and you're done.

Probably gets you slightly worse mileage in cruise conditions and possibly worse nox emissions. On the other hand, it cleans up the engine compartment and makes it easier to work on.

Re: remove EGR

I deleted my EGR for weight savings and to clean up the engine bay. Havent heard of any effect to engine performance.

If the car needs to pass emissions you should probably keep it.

There's your answer right there. If you disconnect the egr on an obd2 car you WILL trigger a code/check engine light. The only way around this is to tune it out.

By he way, egr doesn't hurt performance at all.....just fixing it may be cheaper.
