Remove air pump vent to air intake

I am making a custom air intake for my 94 z28 and I don't want to put the vent tube thing that goes to the air pump back on. Can I just but a stand alone filter on it, or does it need to be hooked up if it is being used? Btw I have already disconnected the vacuum line to the egr.

Yes, you could use a small air filter on it.

I thought so just checking. I prefabbed a pvc intake and took it into the muffler shop. It is done and I will pick it up tom. and hopefully it fits. I also plan on jet-hot coating it!! I just couldn't decide on silver or black.
