Remove Air Pump 95 Z28

This is probably already discussed on this website, but I have done searches and must not be using the correct words to bring up the results. One of my main issues is what are the negatives of doing it. Stock LT1 with automatic.

Re: Remove Air Pump 95 Z28

Welcome to CamaroZ28.com ! ! !

Posts in the "New Member Into" forum are not going to get responses to tech questions. I'll move this to "LT1 Based Engine Tech" for you.

The AIR pump only runs for a few minutes at startup, and helps the catalytic converter heat up faster and start working. Removing the pump will increase emissions during startup. That is the only negative.

On the other hand there is not much to be gained by removing it, other than a minor weight reduction. It has no effect on performance in any way, since its driven by an electric motor, not the serpentine belt, and only runs for those few minutes at startup.
