Removal of Tranny dipstick for LT's?

Right now I'm working on the passenger side removal and was looking up at where the EGR connects and it looks as though the tranny line needs to be removed. I couldn't get a wrench on the bolt. And I know the oil dipstick needs to be removed. I haven't seen anything in previous posts about removing it and was wondering

There is a 10MM headed bolt that holds the dipstick in place. It is about 10 inches down from the top of the dipstick. Everything is much easier to see with the starter out of the way.

Sorry i read that wrong. Very long week. As for removing the trans dipstick i have never done it for any header setup i have done, longtubes included. The trans dipstick pretty much goes straight up from the insertion point of the trans and wraps to the top of the passenger fuel rail.

I removed mine. It is attached much like the oil dipstick tube. About 1/2 way down is a bolt that holds it to the side of the block. You see it looking from underneath, just past the cat convert. It is a pain since a wire bundle and its bracket also share the same hole. Tough to get a wrench on it. I left that part of the exhaust on, but I bet it is easier with it off. I can't say if you can get it off with the valve cover on, but with just the head on you can. It kind of snakes its way down to the tranny.

Hope this helps.

Actually its one of the bellhousing bolts that hold the tranny dipstick on, I would leave it alone if you can it is a mother to get back in there right.
I know. It took almost an hour to get it lined back up right with the dipstick tab and the electrical connector both on there and then the bolt in.
