You can get remote starters for manual cars. My buddy got one off of eBay for his MR2.

hey camaroz28_97,

To try and help answer your question, What alarm are you planning to install? I have a viper 550. I have the install instructions for it somewhere here that im sure I could scan or photocopy and send you. If it is the same alarm that you have it will work. even if it is the same brand the instructions should be the same. It does say DO NOT INSTALL ON MANUAL CARS but it can be easily done following what the others on the board have said. I hope this helps. Email me if you want the instructions.

What if you have a hidden kill switch installed. How would the remote start work if you didnt press the switch. Would you have to disable the switch.

by friend has a brand new dogde ram and has both I'll ask him how it works. He had an alarm place do it for him but now his check engine light flashes on so.....I don't know if it's worth it or the alarm place just screwed up. I'm thinking the latter.

Wires to the electronics are so sensitive with the computer. I would be very cautious about any crimping... if you are good, go throught the system and solder like it should have been done. (don't forget the heat-shrink tubing).

At worst, if you don't want to do that... go to a VW store and get Stabilant 22. It is a clear liquid you drip into poor connections (typical of VW) but if you pour it into crimp connections it will prohibit corrosion and increase conductivity... it could be the problem for the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp).
