Remanufactured LT1

Ok so i got this new remanufactured LT1. Now do i have to prime the oil pump manually before the intake is put on or since the whole thing is lubed up from the rebuild can i just put everything together, disconnect the coil wire and crank it till oil pressure build, then connect the wire and fire it up or MUST I manually turn the pump before firing it up? any input is very much appreciated, Thanx

You can do it through pulling the fuel pump fuse and disconnecting the oil but if your manifold is off I highly suggest priming it the correct way. Get a distributer gear/assembly, attach it to a drill and have at it. Snap On, Craftsman, Mac etc. make tools specifcally for this but if you have an old distrubter you can "modify" its a hell of a lot cheaper. Shove it down the hole where the oil drive goes (or where a distruber normally would go, let it rip untill you see oil flowing through out the top end... then your ready to go!
