Talking Redneck exhaust/intake

Check out the straight-pipe and cutout airbox. This is how it's done for $35 total. Stainless pipe, too. Not too loud due to factory manifolds and intact cat. Sounds nice on the street and almost silent inside at 80mph.

Funny, I thought it was their close mindedness and know-it-all attitude.

Seriously, not something I would do but for a budget install, looks passable.

Not the case around here...all the domestic guys know their **** (f-body owners included), its the import guys that know-it-all and cant begin to believe that something n/a can be fast. However, this is just a broad generalization of where I am from, not everyone is like that.

Re: Redneck exhaust/intake

for your intended goals, you did a very clean job. might want to look into a catback system and CAI when the money is available.

I do not understnad why people care if the f-body crowd is considered rednecks. I am not a redneck and do not half *** things on my car, thats all that matters. I criticize mustang drivers all the time, but that is what you get for driving a ford

Re: Redneck exhaust/intake

Wow, now thats ghetto. It'd be so much cleaner to just completely remove the exhaust (keep the manifolds obviously) and ditch the O2's (run open loop) for a temporary performance "upgrade" (if you can call it that).

As for the intake you could easily just make a cold air intake from PVC piping, couplers, and a cone filter for really cheap and just paint the piping to make it look cleaner. I dunno I wasn't this ghetto when it came to mods but I guess it would work for your $35 budget.

Re: Redneck exhaust/intake

I think the intake is good for a lil boost, it looks good, i did something like that on one of my old TA's. also the exhaust isnt bad, i guess im a ftard for spending $800 on my corsa, but eh oh well, no biggie. Good job for a budget modding spree, Shouldda had him Y it and run duals.

Re: Redneck exhaust/intake

I think this is a great idea... Why spend so much money on an exhaust that looks good? Exhaust is hidden under your car. It is meant for performance purposes only. If you dont mind looking at it when your under your car then who cares?

I think its a great idea for someone on a budget.

Talking Re: Redneck exhaust/intake

Wow, feel the LOVE!

Okay, this was all temporary. The exhaust will be done "properly", made at the same shop the endpipe came out of, and the intake will be a Moroso kit we happened to have at my dealership Works just like the K+N kit but doesn't cost $200-$300. It's a $4000 car, okay?

The exhaust will be about $160, the Moroso intake kit will be $50 (plus I have to clean the filter). So, $210. The pics show what we do when we're tired of changing oil or alternators and bored as hell on a Saturday.

Not everyone can justify or afford a Robotic Laser-Welded Platinum Stainless Gold Titainum Diamond-Plate NASA-Approved Dyno-Tested and Certified Signed by Dale Jr. Exhaust + Intake! Does it make THAT much of a difference? Come on.

Jus' cut the dangol' airbox man, weld on some lil'ol' pipe right there man, sounds good, man, tell you what.

Plus, if the import guys had "shown me how to do it" there'd be Japanese all over my car and a huge 4-foot wing on the back with a beach towel thrown over it. I work with two "Ricer" guys, and thier cars are nice - but too quiet, too small, and the vinyl all over them looks like a Japanese take-away restaurant menu. Just watch out for the '88 CRX with "ALLMOTR" on the license plate. That guy turned 12s at the track in Fallon! Unreal. It's like hopping up your lawnmower or edger!
