I'm concerned about your driveline durability. A 475 fwhp SBC is probably going to have 425-450 lb-ft peak torque if you do it right, and that's nearly twice what the turbo made. It's probably more than the 944T driveline can live with. What's the use of having the power if you don't show it off?

If it needs to run "somewhat civilized", a 355 will be makin lots of torque. A thought: How about a 305 (4.030 x 3.00) which makes 475 at about 6500-6800 or so and doesn't have a boat-load of low-mid torque? The right combination could still be fairly civilized to drive.

Another thought: Find another front-engine/transaxle driveline and swap it in. C5 Vette is a pretty good copy of the 944 setup, and might fit. I think shortening the torque tube about 14 inches and fabbing a new driveshaft is feasible. You could use pretty much everything from the water pump to the rear wheel lug nuts, including the LS1 which comes with it. Now that would be one sleeper!

You hit it right on the head with burnout vs. traction theory..
But, I'm not really looking for another drag car so lack of traction could be a good thing (as far as driveline survival). We already have an ATI supercharged 95 WS6 as our shop toy, so I'm looking for something a little different out of this one. 0-60 might suffer a little but 60-100 should be quite impressive!!! As well as some decent handling and unique style.

Your right on not needing/wanting a bunch of low end torque, I want it to pull hard in the upper rpm (6000-6500). It should be quite a sleeper, imagine pulling up next to it on the cruise at about 35mph......

The original 2.5liter turbo motor can easily (not cheaply) be modified to produce 400 RWHP but the driveability and reliability is not very good.

If the drivetrain proves to be too weak I will have to re-think that later......there's always a fix!!!!!
