Recipe for 475 fwhp.....is it possible?
Recipe for 475 fwhp.....is it possible?
Well I'm trying to come up with an engine build plan for my project car.....
I would like 475 fwhp without spray or forced induction. It does need to run "somewhat" civilized however.....
Is it possible? If so what recipes could you suggest?
I'm starting out with a 95 LT1 motor....its going into a Porsche.
Thanks.........RAY

Got any links where I can read up on this?
Excuse my ignorance, but I'm not real familiar with the LT1 platform......yet.

Of course if it's a Cayenne (non-turbo) SUV, it would be an absolute HOOT, especially when you popped the hood at your local Porsche dealer. Is that cool, or what?

Hey guys,
Its going into a 1988 944 Turbo....
The turbo trans is fairly tough, as long your not trying for smoky burnouts it will be okay........I hope!!!

I'm concerned about your driveline durability. A 475 fwhp SBC is probably going to have 425-450 lb-ft peak torque if you do it right, and that's nearly twice what the turbo made. It's probably more than the 944T driveline can live with. What's the use of having the power if you don't show it off?
If it needs to run "somewhat civilized", a 355 will be makin lots of torque. A thought: How about a 305 (4.030 x 3.00) which makes 475 at about 6500-6800 or so and doesn't have a boat-load of low-mid torque? The right combination could still be fairly civilized to drive.
Another thought: Find another front-engine/transaxle driveline and swap it in. C5 Vette is a pretty good copy of the 944 setup, and might fit. I think shortening the torque tube about 14 inches and fabbing a new driveshaft is feasible. You could use pretty much everything from the water pump to the rear wheel lug nuts, including the LS1 which comes with it.
Now that would be one sleeper!
