Rebuilt LT1...CC305 and hardware
I'm finishing up rebuilding my LT1. She's stock top and bottom execept for CAI and LT's....M6 with 4.10's. I'm looking at using the CC305 with the PAC 1218 springs and 1.6 SA rockers. I have no intention of spinning this motor over 6,000. It's a street car, not a race car. With the SA rockers there is no need for hardened pushrods or guideplates, correct? Also, should the rocker studs be replaced? I just want a cam that gives me grunt in the lower rpm range and from what I've read the CC306 might be a little aggressive. Will the CC305 with a 112LSA give the lope that the CC306 has at idle?
Ugh. I'm torn between the two.
63-1318-16 Comp Pro Mag...........good rockers?
I'm looking to do the LE3 heads next summer, so I don't want to dump a ton of money into this.
Any input would be appreciated as this is the first build I have done.

You will probly need hardend push rods. But no you will not need guide plates. As for the studs, well I have had no problem with the stock studs but its kind of up to you if you want to change them out or not. And I have my doubts that it will have the same sound at idle as the cc306 but I do not know beings I have never heard a cc305.
I had a 305 on a 112 lsa on my first set up and it had a nice lope at idle. Makes great torque down low. In fact, with your 4.10 gear it is going to be hard to hook up on the street. I had mildly ported heads and long tube headers and the cam peaked out (hp) around 5700 rpm. I think peak torque was around 3400. I would call Comp Cams and talk with them and let them give you their recommendations for the best selection.
I think I have a dyno chart of my combo with this cam somewhere. Just PM me and I'll e-mail it to you if you want it.

That peak of 5700 sounds about perfect for what I'm looking for. I'll go ahead and get some hardened push rods in there. I assume that stock length should be fine (7.200 right?) One last thing, with those valve springs, can those just be thrown on the head as it is or is there any other parts/machine work that will be required?
