Rebuilt engine woes, please help!!!!

Finally got a chance to dyno the rebuilt 383. Make great power without a problem up to 6000 rpm, BUT.... It hits a wall at about 6150 rmp and will not spin past 6200 rpm. It is like it is banging off a really soft rev limiter. I tried eliminating the msd digital 6 and no change. The opti is brand new. Prior to the rebuild, the motor spun right to the rev limiter set on the msd box at 6700 rpm. I found this out yesterday on the dyno. I now noticed today when the problem begins I see a drop in the oil pressure when it begins to stumble. WTF. I have a canton oil pan and a anti cav moroso oil pan.

Tell us about the valve lift of the new cam and the lifters. I believe the problem is there or fuel but valves first.

Brand new comp r lifters, afr rev kit has about 4k miles on them, 977 springs setup at 140 lbs on the seat, comp cam xe 3192/3194 grinds. The motor had a bearing failure. I had the engine tore down cleaned, honed, new rings and bearings. Never had this problem before. I had the heads resurfaced, and new valve seals installed. I just dont know where to begin. So much fun.

Couldn't find the specs for 3192/3194 so I couldn't find your lift or duration numbers BUT I know that 977's have a maximum lift of 0.600. I think chances are you are over that and I think there in lies your problem. I know they are also not installed at the correct height either based on your pressure numbers. You need to start over with the valve train.

And no more TTT.

Re: Rebuilt engine woes, please help!!!!

First off, the springs have about 4000 miles on them. The installed height is 1.850 @ just under 150 lbs (I stated earlier it was 140 and it was 148). The cam is setup using 1.6 rr on the intake so the the lift is .608. The exhaust lift is .584 using a 1.5 rr. The cam profile has take a little life out of the springs but not that much. I am all about finding the problem but tearing the heads off is the last step I want to take, but I am willing.

Recommended max is .6 and pressure at 1.85 is 155. So what do I know Sorry to have wasted your time.

I dont think you wasted my time. I am open to suggestions. I did have a little loss of spring pressure, but that is what is expected out the cam I am using. I am going to put 1.5 rockers on the intake to see if I am experiencing a bind issue. What seems strange is that if it was a bind issue, I would think I would see a problem all across the board, but I could be dead wrong. I am very confused.

I hope I did not insult you, that was not my intentions at all. If I did I apoligize.
