If you're gonna stick a hotcam in it, just go with a 355.

If you want something a little more fun, but relatively mild, stick an LE1 package on top of the 355.

If you were going to go through the effort to have a 383 put together, I would probably throw a little more of a cam in it then the Hotcam.

yea the hotcam pretty much sucks. my vote would be to do a 355 with the le1 package. it will make good power ( 370-390hp) and still be pretty streetable but will have way more power then a hot cam 383. the website is eportworks.com and the guys name is loyd. he should be able to help you out. good luc

If the motor needs redone anyway, build a 383 with heads and cam. a mild cam in a 383 with decent heads will build a torque monster that keeps you planted in your seat from the slightest tip of the throttle.
