"Rebuilding" a CSI Water Pump

i got a CSI off my friends car that was making a bearing noise. it's his daily driver, so he went the safe route and got a new one.

well... i got the CSI all apart. the bearing right behind the impeller is bad. that's no big deal, i can get another bearing for cheap.

the problem is that there's some coolant inside the motor housing. not much, but it's damp. i looked at the sealing surfaces between the housing and impeller. they look dandy, i dont see how it would leak.

is it leaking coolant in because the front bearing has too much play, and isn't letting the housing/impeller surface seal correctly?

anywho... i know it's a long shot, but maybe someone has run into this before and can tell me their experience.

thanks in advance.
