Rebuilding 4L60E.. need some advice

Hey guys, I've noticed my stock 100K trany is getting weak lately and seems to be slipping some. I am going to pull it and rebuild it so I wanted to ask a few questions of you guys.
Right now I am making 377rwhp and 425 torque, but I am going to pull the engine this winter and stroke it to a 383 I am then planing on a 150 shot of nitrous for next year. Also a 2800-3000 stall. I really need to build a trany that will hold up.

I have a new 13 vein pump and a new vette servo sitting here already. I have been looking around Ebay and found this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=46104
I was wondering if it looked and good to you guys.
Also these 5 pinion rear planets that are supposed to be stronger.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=46104

What other parts should I look for and were can I source them? Thanks guys.

The Alto 3-4 clutch arrangement is NOT the way to go. Alto tries to jam as many clutches in the 3-4's as possible. To do this, they make the steels .059". Yes, you can get more clutches in it like that, but what they don't understand is, a steel collects heat from the frictions. The thinner the steel, the more tendancy it has to warp. I've taken alot of them apart with warped 3-4 steels. A better way to go is with (6) .079" TH700 style steels, and (7) 3-4 frictions. You can reuse your 4L60E upper and lower pressure plates. While you're there, make sure you throw the "load release" springs away! They're the 5 spring sets surrounding the 3-4 clutches. Alto makes a great "wide" 2-4 band. It is available in "Red" and Kevlar. Stay away from the Kevlar. It's too hard, and it burns up too easily. If you're going to use a wide band, you've got to check your reverse housing very closely to make sure it's not concave on the band surface. Lay a straight edge across it to check it. If it's warped, the band will only make contact on the outside edges, which will burn the outer portion of the band prematurely. Get either a Sonnax, or Art Carr pump slide spring. This will help keep pressure up at high RPM's. The 4L60E's aren't designed to do that with the factrory slide springs. A .500" pressure boost valve and sleeve will help pressure, too. A Fairbanks Billet 2nd gear servo, and a Sonnax 4th servo will help the band live longer, too.
The best advice I can give you about building a 4L60E is DON'T put a Trans-Go shift kit in it! Did you get that? I said DON'T!
The 5 pinion planetaries are great, but GM had a problem with the rear ring gears in the 4L65E's breaking. Make sure you use your 4L60E ring gear over, if it's still good.
BTW, RACINLT1 has been running consistant 11.0's @ 124 MPH, on a 175 shot with his '97 T/A. I built his 4L60E 2 1/2 years ago. I've been building automatic transmissions professionally for 14 years.

DON'T USE A TRANS-GO SHIFT KIT!

Thanks for the great info. I have only rebuilt one trany before. A TH350 and I just rebuilt it with stock parts that were in a complete kit. That's been quite a few years ago, but I figure I'll give this one a shot.

Any one else out there with an opinion or info on good HD parts and were to get them? ..

12SCNDZ, How much do you charge for a rebuild like this. I planned on buying a th400 but if I can get my 700r4 to live I would like to keep it to keep my OD. I plan on making around the mark of 550rw or so. I am not to far from you.

I am actually thinking about going w/ a th350, if I cant find someone to rebuild my 700r4 for a decent price to hold some power.

A 350 isn't any stronger than a PROPERLY built 700/4L60E! Plus, you're losing your O/D

$850 if you pull it and bring it to me. Not including the converter or hard parts. Hard parts are anything internal that's not needed in a normal rebuild (Pump, drum, etc.)

12SCNDZ, Thats what I mean, How much am I looking at a rebuild to hold 550 or so rw. It would be no problem pulling it and bringing it to you. Again its a 700. Oh and how are you guys quoting what somone says in your posts, I am yet to figure this out.
