rebuild price

I was wondering if $1500 is reasonable for a stroker rebuild? I have no idea, so I'm just trying to get a feel for it. Thanks.

What do you mean by a "rebuild"? What is included? Does the price include removal and replacement of the motor?

Can't answer with (a lot) more info.

Yes sorry, this would be removing the motor, sending the block off for the machine work (but not including that price), and rebuilding and lowering it back in again. Basically, I'm dropping the car off in this guy's driveway for him to work on.

What is being "rebuilt"? I am still not sure what you mean. Do you mean new rings and bearings and honing the bores or do you mean a new 383 build?

The motor R+R is a good 8-10 hours work in itself. The fluids and gasket needed just to take it apart and button it back up cost a couple of hundred bucks. Rings and bearings (if they are high quality) are gonna be another $300 or so. Plus a few hours assembly/dissambly time. That's pretty much your $1,500 right there including the machine work. Do you mean a 383 buildup minus parts?

Yeah, I'm buying the Eagle 383 stroker kit, which includes rods, pistons, crank, bearings, etc. And the $1500 price was quoted as just the labor side of things.

I dunno man. I pulled mine out w/ a Jack, cherry picker, engine stand, set of deep metric and standard sockets, wrench set, and some extensions.

That was coming out the top also, with the hood still on. I say invest the money in tools, and learn something.

I'm gonna pay ~$1200 for a forged rebuild...that includes headwork etc. I could get it done cheaper but I like this guy better.

Go git some tools, beer, bug zapper, and have at it

Unfortunately, I do not have time to learn at the moment. The Navy seems to think I should be flying about every day. And this is my only car, so I'm just needing to minimize downtime.

Assuming the machine work is done well and includes boring and honing, decking, and cleaning the block as well as installling the cam bearings, etc. the price seems about right.

Good luck.
