Rebuild, peice together gasket set? New Bolts? ---
I am about to get my le2 build started.
I already have the Impala Head Gaskets. Is there a Fel Pro gasket SET for our cars? If so ... what is the number? If not....do I just peice together a set?
-Intake Manifold
-Valve cover (2)
-EGR
-Throttle Body-
-Cylinder Head Coolant Tube (4)
-Timing Cover
-Crank Seal
-Rear Crank Seal
-Water Pump (2)
-Driven Gear Seal?
-Distributor Seal
-Oil Pan
-Header specific (2)
Anything missing???
*** Ok, now how about getting a new complete engine bolt set? Is it needed? Is it a good idea or wasted money? Thanks ---
$30 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true
or $185 for the ARP set ( is it worth the $$$, 6 or the 12 point in your opinion?) ---

It's a tough call if you are doing the heads. Sealed Power has a full engine set, but I reused the valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket could have been reused, and I got different head gaskets. I wasn't thrilled with the intake gaskets included, and I really don't like the header gaskets. SLP-260-1650 is the part number.
Also, the steam passage seals (back of heads), EGR stuff (backof intake) were NOT included.
Look on Summittracing, I got the full engine set, but they have a Head set too. Felpro also has a full engine set, hopefully better head gaskets and supposed to be more complete.
After this, I'll probably piece it together; for example, a brand new timing cover with all 3 seals already installed is only 46 bucks from Dal. Head gaskets are really a personal choice/specific build need thing, I'd use either the Impala (BUT NOT THE mr gASKET, THEY WERE PACKED CRAPPY AND SOME OF THE COATING CAME OFF) or the Felpro 1074.
Like I said, the silicone Felpro valve cover gaskets and Felpr one piece oil pan gaskets are pretty much reusable.
Engine bolt set, I'd stay away from EBay, and ARP told me they didn't have a water pump set, so they may well be short a few bolts on LT1 kits. I was interested in the bolt sets from eithe Sumitt or Jegs, cost about 90 for a full set in SS. Bolt set is NOT needed, just replace the crank bolt and the flexplate bolts (ARP wouldn't hurt here). I already had the ARP head studs, and I like those a lot.

Try this one that oddly enough uses all Felpro stuff.

Nice gaskets
You still have to get the steam pipe seals seperately

Thanks guys.... I guess I could just sell off the head gaskets , and exhaust gaskets in the setup. ---
Will this work too, FELPRO # HS9966PT for the upper, and CS9966 for the lower? ---

That's one damn expensive gasket kit:
Are you replacing the oil pan gasket and rear main? Are they leaking? If not... leave 'em alone! Besides.. you have to pull the tranny to get the rear main.
Gaskets you need for an LE2 project:
Coolant seals: $3 each from Cromer
FelPro Timing Set from Autozone TCS45956 (includes timing gasket, water pump gaskets, opti seal, front crank seal, and one water pump drive seal.. you can buy one extra if need be): $12
FelPro Intake manifold gasket: FPP-1284 $20 from Summit
Percy's Header/Manifold gasket (reusable) PHP-66031: $40 from Summit
The TB gaskets, EGR (which you should just cap off and get rid of anyways), etc are low $ gaskets from the dealer.
Don't spend $320 on that overpriced kit with more than you need when all you have left is about $100 in gaskets!!!!!! Even if you need an oil pan gasket too it'll only be about $40....
Don't mess with that bolt set, get a wire wheel for a drill and wire wheel all your old bolts, they come out new.. Get ARP 12 point bolts for the heads and call it a day. Don't skimp on head bolts.
You don't need valve cover gaskets, I've got the same valve cover gaskets on my 355 that I had on my 90k mile LT1 previously.. they're a good rubber gasket and they don't tend to leak from what I've ever seen.
