To rebuild or not Rebuild

Well I bit the bullet and took my 94z28 to the dealership for a diag. No one can figure out my lack of power etc. I've changed the opti, coil, TPS, MAF, fuel filter, waterpump. After the coil it sounded worst and was idling really rough. Diag shot up two codes EGR and #2 plug. Well heres where i'm wondering should i just have the engine rebuilt. Plugs and wires $496.00, they found that my intake gasket needs replacing because oil leaks $507.00, gasket for the oil filter holder attached to the engine $150.00. The engine runs REALLY strong but has 140,000 miles on it. The plugs i understand, but with all of the other stuff, is it worth it. Does anyone have an idea of what I will pay to have an LT1 rebuilt?

I Have A 94z And Im Doing The Head Gaskets.had To Take The Top Of The Motor Apart And It Was Not That Hard.that Intake You Could Do Yourself For Less Then 50.00.the Plugs And Wires You Could Get Decent Ones For Under 100.00.the Work Is Just Time Consuming.a Rebuild Would Cost Alot More But Then You Have A New Motor.good Luck

Just change the plugs and wires yourself, DEFINITELY not woth $500, same with the intake manifold, it can be done in an hour if you've never done it before.

Find a new mechanic ASAP if he's going to charge you that much. And there is no reason you can't do that yourself.

Considering what needs to be done to the engine, those repairs are very minor. If the engine is running good otherwise, there is no sense in rebuilding it. However, with what the mechanic is wanting to charge to do those repairs, you might be able to afford a rebuild! There is alot of good info on here, do a "search" on the repairs you have in mind. If you can do all of those other repairs, then I think you can handle the intake gaskets and plugs/wires.
