Rebuild... am I missing anything?

Basically its a stock build up, looking to hit about 415-420rwhp with the 100shot... realistic? Getting the gunk off of the heads, valve job, etc. Here is the list:

Summit Engine Rebuild Kit (Speed Pro forged pistons)
(machine work)
GM LT4 HOTCAM Kit (12480002)
Holley Airfoil (120-140)
Comp Cams Hi-Tech One-Piece Chromemoly pushrods, 7.200" (7940-16)
Comp Cams OE Replacement Hydraulic Roller Lifters (850-16)
GM Extreme Duty Timing Set (12370835)
K-Line 11/32 Valve Stem Seals (1407-16)
ARP High-Performance LT1/LT4 Connecting Rod Bolts (134-6005)
Canton Road Race Oil Pan revised by Nu-Tek (15-242T)
(various ARP fasteners)
Melling High Volume Oil Pump (H55HV)
ARP Oil Pump Shaft (134-7901)
ZEX LT1 Nitrous Kit (82018)
GM LT4 Composite Valve Cover Conversion (12552321, 12552322, 10108675x8, 10108674x8, 12555685)
Canton Oil Pump Pickup

Its about a $3700 buildup, I've got something else in the works a year or so from now, but I need an engine that will last for the next year for another 30,000 miles and a bunch track days and strip runs.

Thanks

bearings, oil pump drive, your not getting 425rwhp on the hotcam, machining, water pump, opti, machine work on heads..
Christ your missing a bunch of stuff i cant think of right now
what else....
full gasket set
fuel pump
fuel pressure regulator
fuel injectors
porting heads?

that sumit kit isn't going to hold 425rwhp either if its what i recall it be.

i'd hop on that combo GP, thats just me though.
why not just spend a few more bucks and go 383
why not pray more than 100?

do you have basic bolt ons?
torque converter, rear?
trans build up?

Trey,
He said he's looking for 415-425 rwhp with a 100 shot. I think that's realistic with the hotcam. Don't you?

trey... thanks for the input, but that rebuild kit includes a fel pro gasket set, clevite 77 bearings, speed pro forged pistons, some fasteners, etc. etc.

I meant to ask about a fuel pump and pressure regulator... what would you recommend? I don't expect to overburden any of the stock fuel components with only about 315-320rwhp.

The ZEX kit comes with a fuel pump does it not? With that much power however, it looks like I will have to upgrade the injectors... any input on that?

No headwork, just cleaned up heads, I don't want to spend gobs of money, just enough to have a good reliable engine. My car has 117,000 miles on it as it is, and after taking a look inside of it here and there, I'm quite concerned about taking it to this years track events and having it hold up for the drives there and back.

Much thanks guys.

I assume your talking about Mr. Elliot right? The thing is though as hard as that car will be running and the long trips it will make, I don't think the stock rods and crank will last that long. I'm talking about 2000 mile trips with 30 minutes to an hour of non stop road racing in between.

As far as the injectors go, what would you recommend?

You can get a new 4 bolt main short block from Sallee Chevrolet for $1650.
I'm curious to see how the rebuild kit from summit does.
If you have the engine balanced, use ARP bolts and the forged pistons it should be MUCH stronger than a stock short block and there are a lot of guys using nitrous on stock short blocks and
making over 400rwhp.

I don't think you need the canton pan myself or the valve covers but it depends on how much you want to spend.
For a basic rebuild you should be able to do it much cheaper.
If you only want that engine to last 30k I bet you can find a used hot cam kit for much less.

Otherwise you might as well get the combination motorsports 355 short block for 3k. There are guys running in the 9's with that set up

Trey the hotcam hater

That should last fine although I'd consider investing in some rods buy the time you get the stock ones resized and everything and buy the ARP's you have some money into them. You can get Eagle H-beams for 350 on Ebay and you could use them in your next setup unless you go wild.

Trey is right about one thing that deal on the stroker kit for a grand is a STEAL!! and you'd have a heck of a shortblock you could hit it with a 150 shot and what your saying and probably get your 30 K out if it no problems.
