Re: Rebuild

Depending on your cam, I would go straight to a 383.

What cam do you have, and how much spray are you looking to do?

Re: Rebuild

Hey, I know you had Adv. Comp in high school and got by your english classes in college. You ought to start using punctuation and make your posts a little more clear so they're easier to read. You'll get alot more feedback that way

You ought to finish getting together the valvetrain and then decide if you want to go with a stroker as you'll need different bearings and all for the bigger crank.

BTW, is your cam duration 224 intake, 230 exhaust? I can't remember exactly.

Re: Rebuild

You really should do a search.....you'll find WAY more information than you ever wanted to know.

Re: Rebuild

Chris, my phone was turned off if you have tried to call me, I just got done building that 93, here's a link, give me a call if you want to talk about your car. if you do, we need to figure out exactly what you plan on doing with the car, then create a budget, double it, then get started, msg flyboyZ28 also, he can give you a really good idea about the cost of a good rebuild. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...4&goto=newpost

Re: Rebuild

His heads will be ported LT1's with stock sized valves (1 piece chrome tips, swirl polished) and 5 angle valve job. The shop has a flow bench, so my guess is probably in the 240-250 range on intake side or similar to Lloyd's stage 1 heads at best. The cam is custom ground by Comp and is basically a 224/230 XE with alot more lift. The lift numbers mentioned above are with 1.6 rr's. If he goes with a stroker, he'll have almost big block like torque with that cam.

Re: Rebuild

that's not enough head or cam for a 383, IMO.

Re: Rebuild

I was guessing closer to stage 2 LE heads for my flow numbers, but i could be surprised. I was told with just a cam and head swap and a tune i should make just over 400 rwhp.

Re: Rebuild

Well now that you told me you were getting bigger valves today, I'd say Farmers should be able to get those heads close to LE stage II flow with their flowbench. I think this combo will be enough for a 383. It won't be as radical as aftermarket heads from AR with a big cam like a GM 847, but it'll sure be a torque monster for a smallblock. IMO a great setup for stock gears and a daily driver. It won't lope all that much either. You should be a little over 400rwhp with a tune, but you'll have all kinds of torque.
