rearend question???
rearend question???
ok i got a 6speed with alot of bolt on and will be adding nitrous. i got a stock rear end. what exaclly happens when it goes out, does it ruin alot of things other than the rearend?
it will probably first tear up the teeth on the pinion or the gear. or it could snap the pinion in half. or it could break the axle shaft or the posi. but it just depends. but if you are makin a pass and the motor is reving and your in gear and clutch is disengaged then you broke something. however we made pleanty of high 11s on spray on bolton car with a 10 bolt but the new motor is goin in dads car so we put a 9in in there
Since you have a manual car you will be putting alot more stress on the rear as oppose to an auto car. The reason this happens is because when you dump the clutch at a given rpm you shock the rear with a large force all at once. If you are running a stock gear you will probably be alot safer then if you are running an aftermarket gear. For example the teeth on a 4.10 are alot thinner than the teeth on a 3.23. Thus making it alot easier to shear the teeth off a 4.10 then a 3.23.
