Rear main seal + drop in oil pressure?
Just wondering if any of you guys have any hard data on this? I've got the leak for sure it's all over the back of the oil pan, leaks from the starter and tranny bellhousing area. I've done a search but I didn't see a definite answer. If I go easy on it the leak isn't as bad but if I go WOT it's spraying from underneath and it's a pretty mess.
So if the rear main is bad for whatever reason has anyone experienced a loss in oil pressure because of it and it only?
Thanks guys,

Re: Rear main seal + drop in oil pressure?
rear main leak wont cause a loss in oil pressure unless you're low on oil. theres no "pressure" behind that seal. if you have oil pressure loss related problem, id guess you have a leak elsewhere, like a galley plug or one of the pressure ports like on the back of the block behind the manifold. If you dont have an oil pressure problem, id guess you might have the infamous LT1 manifold seal blowout in the back, or maybe even a bad valve cover gasket leaking down the tranny and block? Try to clean up the mess with brake clean and have someone watch while you run it again to try and pinpoint the leak. You dont happen to have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge inside the car do you? If so it could be that the supply line to it is severed.

Darn.
No aftermarket OP guage but I'll be ordering a mechanical one real soon. I don't have the leak coming from the dipstick, VC, or intake for that matter. It's the rear main seal 100%. I'll be dropping the pan in the near future to make sure the pickup hasn't fallen off just in case.
Thanks.
