rear intake oil leak

rear intake oil leak

is it common for a Lt1 motor that only has 17k on it to be leaking oil from the rear intake, give me sum input as to why its leaking, or is it normal, and should i buy gm gaskets, or is there a better gasket out there that i can buy so this doesnt happen again, thanks chas

Intake leaks happen all the time. You may want to double check that it's not your oil sender unit leaking. The car may only have 17000 miles but it's still at least 6 years old. If it is in fact an intake leak, buy yourself some GM LT1 intake gaskets and some black RTV. Clean the surfaces very well, using carb or brake cleaner, towels, and a razor blade, or it will be sure to happen again. The dealership around here uses GMS (?) instead of RTV, I think because it's made by GM. There is probably better documentation around, but I hope this helps.

yes it is an intake leak from what the dealership told me thanks for your input.

Did you get a quote from them as to how much it will cost to fix it - how many hours labor?

yes they said 4 hours so after all said and done its going to cost 400 hundred freakin dollars so im upset that it happened with only 17k on the motor so im going to do it myself and take my time i hope i can handle it lol thanks for the site on how to do it bastardcat
