Rear Distributor Conversion... (Carbed LT1)

I'm swapping to carbed for a 383 stroker...

I was told I'll need a .184" x .680" key on the crank snout and a 6.75" damper because of the opti drive delete plug plate...

How/where can I get these items, and does this completely eliminate my current crank hub?

Any info would be great. Thanks...

I have done the swap, but i dont know about the crank becuase i just decided to leave to the opti on, i plan on taking it off soon though. You can get the opti delete plate from a dealership, its in the performance parts catalogue. Your gonna need a new hood also if you use the GM carb'd intake. Hopefully someone will be able to help you better, i would also be interested to know the answer to that.

I am putting the engine into a different car, not an fbody...

Also, I have already ordered teh opti plug plate with timing mark... That is the problem. The plate thing doesn't clear the stock balancer, so a smaller diameter one is needed. I'm nut sure what reason there is for the new key, but I have been told I'll need it...

You probably need a key for the standard balancer, because the stock LT1 uses no key.

What does it take to get one of those put in/on. Would a machine shop have to do it?

Crank key? You just tap it in with a mallet.

Alright, I'll see what I can find...

not to keep beating on the subject, but what should this key look like? A big oversized washer? Is this "key" equivalent to the hub I currently use to hold the stock balancer?

Thanks a lot by they way, you've really helped out...

Thanks for the link. I understand now...

I do have a new question now though. He was putting a stock diameter dampner on... Am I going to have any strange effects due to using a 6.75" dampner instead?

I know the tensioner will probably take care of the belt slack, but what about charging and water pump issues, won't it be spinning a lot faster with the smaller crank balancer?
