Rear Defroster

Hey guys, I just bought a 1996 Z-28 and I'm loving it. I've been noticing a few things wrong with it though, and the other day in all that fog I noticed that only the top 3 lines of the rear defroster are working. Is there an easy way to fix this? Can it just be patched or something? Thanks a lot.

Are you sure only 3 lines of the defroster are working, only because the defroster switch, switched off? If not look at the lines and see if there any brakes.

Breaks in those can be repaired with a special 'paint' that comes in a little bottle.. you tape it off, and paint where they're broken...
Also be aware that these cars have an ongoing problem with the circuit breaker for the rear defroster failing, and turning it off prematurely..
Replacing it with a 30 amp FUSE solves that [it should remain on for about 9 minutes...]

Where can I get this paint? I've never heard of it.

Most auto parts stores carry the paint. Tell the guys behind the counter what you are trying do, they should know what you are talking about. It comes in a very small bottle, reminds me of a crack/cocain bottle. The stuff is usually about $10.

Use a flashlight to help find breaks in the line if you don't have a meter.

If you don't want to spend $10 on the paint, then solder at the break and use steel wool to smooth the solder.
We sold many of these "OE" windows this way!!!!
