Rear Clunking and Brakes Squeaking
Rear Clunking and Brakes Squeaking
Hey guys,
A little while ago I posted that my rear brake pads made noise. After trying unsuccesfully to fix it myself I took it to a shop. They changed the pads, the rotors, bled the brakes, and made sure the calipers weren't sticking. The brakes still squeaked so I took it back to the shop and I took a long test drive with one of the mechanics. The brakes squeaked, the rear made funny noises when turning hard at speed (brakes squealed louder at that point as well) and the rear made a clunking noise when I came to a complete stop.
After the test drive the mechanic told me that my driver side wheel bearing is probably shot, and that my rear needs to be looked at (This shop doesn't do rears, so they didn't even want to look at it for me).
Before I blow a lot of money on rebuilding the rear, does anybody know if there is a simple solution to this (I read over some posts and people said the C-clips in the rear can go bad and casue my symtoms), and if not how much would it cost to repair the rear end and the bearing, and are there any shops in the Northern NJ area that specialize in this kind of work?
The mechanic told me not to drive the car in its current state for fear of further damaging the rear, so I need some help ASAP and I need this fixed as quickly as possible.
Thanks in advance for the help,
-Max
