really need help..signs of bad afpr..
Okay I think I might have found my problem..
been having high blm's 160 on both sides after h/c install.. I notice a strong fuel smell when I took off my t.b. in the intake, and my pressure drops after I prime it not running but leaving key on I can watch it drop. and I took off the vacumn line off the afpr and it has a strong fuel smell. would that cause my bad surging/stumbling and high blm's.. and power loss. I don't think I gained any h.p after all this work, times were the same at the track... would a bad afpr cause all these probs...really need help thanks..

Yes, a fault FPR could cuase tose problems.
What does your fuel pressure look like:
-At idle, with the vacuum line disconnected?
-At idle, with the vacuum line connected?
-At WOT/max load?
That will tell you if the FPR is controlling the pressure within specs. The fuel smell would indicate the possibility of a ruptured diaphragm in the FPR. What brand is the AFPR?

Re: really need help..signs of bad afpr..
it is an accel... I had a aeromotive but it didn't fit right, and it was even for my year..93'.. the accel fits perfect...
it holds fuel pressure at idle vacumn hose on 38lbs.. at wot simulated.. 43lbs to 45 lbs. somewhere around there..
it dosen't lose pressure when going wot on the road. I have a autometer elec. guage inside the car.. it does seem to lose some idle pressure after driving it for about 30min. about 2 lbs.. but when stepping on throttle it always puts out the right pressure... I took off the afpr and blew and sucked through the tube where the vacumn line hooks up, you can hear the diaphram moving back and forth in there.. and I can get a gas taste...

Re: really need help..signs of bad afpr..
Doesn't sound like the FPR is a problem. Have you pulled the fuel rails up to look for dripping injectors? And the Walbro pumps seem to have problems with the check valves. But losing pressure when the pump shuts down will prolong starting, but its not going to cause it to run poorly. Leaking injecotrs will sometimes even lean it out, because the excess fuel that ends up in the exhaust will consume some of the excess oygen from the other cylinders, causing the O2 sensors to think its running rich.
Have you checked for:
-exhaust leaks before the O2 sensors
-misfires
-faulty MAP and IAT sensors
-problems with O2 sensor extensions
-faulty coolant temp sensor
