REALLY NEED HELP (Mallory Ignition)

We are trying to hard wire a Mallory 685 and are having no luck.

What wires (color please) connect to each other? We have tried 10 different combinations, but can't seem to find the correct one. The directions are no help as they show the wrong colors and number of wires for a 94 coil.

Any help would be really appreciated as we need to get the car to the dyno shop in a couple of hours.

Re: REALLY NEED HELP (Mallory Ignition)

It wont send any spark from the coil to the opti. We can't get any sigle past the box.

I assume that the wires are just hooked up wrong, but we can't tell because Mallory has them labeled different than the chiltons or Haynes manual. Maybe we have them connected at the wrong points or to the wrong wires, but we have tried many different ways.

Re: REALLY NEED HELP (Mallory Ignition)

Did you get it fixed?

If not, what does Mallory say the wires are coming out of the unit? Which wires does it say to hook it up to?

Re: REALLY NEED HELP (Mallory Ignition)

There are 3 wires that go to the coil on 94's
1. solid pink wire
2. Pink wire with black stripe
3. gray wire with black stripe
For the mallory 685 box the two pink wires from the harness connect to the red wire the gray with black stripe to the green wire
The two pink wire from the coil plug connect to the yellow wire and the gray wire connects to the black.

Re: REALLY NEED HELP (Mallory Ignition)

Thanks!

Wish I would have been able to find that info. We (Aram and I) ended up just calling it quits that night. I then purchased the MSD harness/adaptor. It was plug and play and worked awesome.

Thanks for the info anyway though.
