Cool

Gasket matching without porting the rest of the cylinder head is like getting a salad with no lettuce... Pointless. Even for $70 a set of heads.

No offense Biff....but CAMAAANNNN. Are you serious???? I can't believe the post even went up. JK. Obviously you've never had any experience with heads. Just to pull them alone aint worth it. I recently ported my heads when I did my engine rebuild. WAIT WAIT. Listen guys......the price of the sandpaper mandrels and crossbuffs alone would cost him over 35 bones. GET IT????? Thats without laybor. 4 lil crossbuffs, just to polish cost 20 bucks.

Anyway dude. Jsut stay away and don't even bother entertaining the idea.

YOu guys need to differentiate PORTING from POLISHING. This guy is POLISHING. $35 still seems low but for polishing, per head, maybe it is reasonable.

Polishing head runners isn't worth much in terms of performance though.

So quick to judge? Okay, you send your heads to this guy and have them "ported."

If that's what you're doing, you're not porting heads, you are port matching heads...there's a HUGE difference. If you aren't going any deeper into the runner than just the opening (i.e. gasket matching), then you're not really porting them.

Not deleting this thread. This need to be known so nobody fall for it(as long as they search here first). I would never let anyone port myheads for that price. Hell, when I polished only my TB, I spent more than that on polishing tips and compund, etc. just to do the TB.

Humm...on a side note, does anybody have a JUNK set of heads laying around, maybe we can send him one for laughs to see how what happens to it. I got another set, but they are not junk..they are for my next stroker project, and already ported....my stockers are ported also so I dont have any to offer anyhow. I stress the word junk because who knows what theyll come back looking/performing like.

Hey N2O....just kiddin man, thats why I had the . Read up above, I did my heads too. Took 49 hours of work with help from Phil, John, Vince and others. I probably spent 150 on materials and bits alone. I just hope no one actually considers it.

N2OpwrdTA, Thanks for calling me a scam. Even though you have had no prior transactions with my business other than your email from last night. I know 23 actual customers who will dissagree with your accusations of me being a scam. Not to mention the people who have seen my work in person or online.

Thanks for clarifying my mistake of calling portmatching, Porting.
I have changed every incorrect term to its proper name.
Theres a good reason why my portmatching is at such a reasonable price. 1 being the supplies that I buy in HUGE bulk ammounts, meaning I dont pay as much for my supplies as someone would if they only bought a tiny ammount. That means I can charge less for my services in the portmatching department.
As for the acutal portmatching of the head, I go as far down into the port as I can. But since you seem to think my pricing is a scam I might as well raise the price for portmatching up some to make the price seem more realistic.
2, i'm trying to establish polishinginc as a reptuable business. That means I have to start from the very bottom of the totem pole and work my way up by offering decent prices and service to my customers. So right now I am glad to take the slight hit to my wallet by charging less for my services.

Like I said in my email. Since I dont have the proper test equipment I dont do any actual porting to the combustion chamber or any valve work. Now if I was charging people 800 or more dollars for a full port job without testing my work for quality, and equal air flow across all ports and chambers then THAT WOULD BE A SCAM

LOL...sorry about that. I was recently scammed, so Im very cautious about it now. That isnt really a scam if all you are doing is portmatching gaskets and no roof, valve, etc work. I dont even know if that is worth $35. Doesnt do much good to open port mouths if the the interior still cant flow it. Good luck, sorry for calling scam...its more of a ripoff if anything.

It looks like you do a pretty good job polishing stuff. You should stick to that until you have some formal training/experience in porting heads. Do one thing and do it well.
