Ready to weld in rollcage, but a ? first

What is the floorpan made of? Is it aluminum?

Will TIG welding hold it down on the floor mounts?

I believe it's made of galvanized steel; don't know anything about welding though...

Its steel. aluminum would be too weak.

TIG welding is one of the strongest and cleanest welds you can have. so, Yes it will work, and if the cage is chromemoly, it MUST be TIG welded.

I would prefer MIG welding it though if its mild steel. Much faster.

You have to put down some steel plates on the floor pan first.

Rear Plate

Rear Plate Driver Side

Front Plate

Middle Plate

You attach the roll bar to these plates. The pan on the floor is thin in spots and is very easy to weld right through. Also when welding in the rear on the driver side be careful, I caught the black plastic piece on fire. The one thats in the fender well.

We mig welded the plates and tig welded the roll bar.

Thanks!

Thank you gentlemen,
That was the info I was looking for.
The pics really help Ken, Thanks.

Looks like I made the right decision going with Wolfe.

Their shop is harder than hell to find, but they are working on some really nice cars!

Thursday is the welding party, so I will update ......
