Ready to slide the camshaft out...Need some advice

Completely ready to slide the camshaft out of the block.

I have a few questions.
1. Do you have to remove the hood realease mechanism to provide more access for removal?
2. What do more people do, swing the AC conensor up or just remove it to provide more access for removal?
3. If I did just remove the condensor, could I refill it myself and what would it cost?
4. Any ther tips or advice?

Thanks

1. No
2. Most people remove it like I did.
3. You could buy a kit from Wal-Mart to refill it yourself, don't know how much. I'd recommend a new drier as well though.
4. Go very, very slow and use some long bolts to get good leverage on it.

I didn't remove the hood release and just swung the condenser out of the way with no problem or clearance issues. Just make sure the condenser it secured or make sure you have another person help you. And like seawolf said, go very, very slowly. Take your time and don't rush or you will regret it down the road.

yeah 4. go slow..and dont worry when the cam drops down, it made me sick to my stomach everytime it dropped down. Just ve very gentle as you do it. And use assembly lube when you put it back in. I did and my car ran like a champ.

Before you refill the ac system you have to pull a vaccume on it to remove any air thats in the lines. then you have to add a oil charge then fill it with the freon.
