Re-torquing head bolts.....

I got 800 miles on my motor (sig). Is it really necessary to re-torque the head bolts? If so.....when should I do it.....at what mileage???

It's always good insurance to re-check the torque on the headbolts. You could probably do it now.

FWIW Ive heard from a few knowledgeable board members and with my motor we just torqued an extra 5 ft/lbs from the get go. No problems yet.

Put my heads on this summer, never re-torqued them. Have about $1.5K miles so far. No problems. I am just too lazy to take alt off again to take valve cover off to re-torque

I think you probably should, why take a chance?

When you buy a car brand new you don't have to take it in to re-torque, so how does that work?

here is my two cents if your heads are iron then yes retorque them because they expand alot more then alu. just leave it.
