re-sizing rods ??

re-sizing rods ??

when adding arp rod bolts is it a must to have the rods resized?? i am going with some in my shortblock build just for safety and at first heard they didnt need to be and am now hearing they do... didnt find anything on the search... so can someone help me out? never had any mahcinework before and am totally clueless on this process of engine building

If it were me I would definitely resize them. I would never rebuild a engine without resizing the rods. Too much to risk the alternatives.

you can't resize the pm rods found in 95-97 Lt1s(fracture rods)
it is almost cheaper to buy new aftermarket stronger rods....

Just buy some scat rods for $220 and be done with it. Make sure you have them checked out though as sometimes the sizing is a little off. A set we did today for a BBC needed .0005" taken out of the pin bores to let the pin slide through.

And on stock forged chevy rods you need to ream the hole for the ARP bolts, and they most definitely need to be resized.
