Make sure the exhaust isn't hitting anything.

Man sounds like you have the same rattle noise I have! Mine started a year ago. It sounded like it was comming from around the tranny area. I took it to a mufler shop and they couldn't pin point it. I took it to a transmision shop and they couldn't tell me what it was either. It sounds kinda like metal chattering. Weather its in drive or in park. Does it get a little louder when you press on the gas and then disapear? Thats what Mine does. I initaly thought it was the heat sheild on the cat. Nope. I wish you luck finding the soarce. If you do find out what it is PLEASE let us know. Makes my car sound getto

if its the random rattle from under your car is more than likely ruined cat, take it to the vet .
Same deal happend to me, the noise is the element in the cat houseing flippin out. I thought it was something rollin around loose in the transmission, thats exactly where the noise was comin from as far as i could tell. took i think a second for my mechanic to diagnose it as one of the cats

God I hope you are right man! I have been living with this dang chatter for over a year. Can I take off the cat or is it welded to the y pipe and if I do get it off can I tell anything by looking in it ? If this turns out to be my problem, I can now put an off road pipe on. I was going to get rid of my cat in a month for header install but tomarow is as good a day as any. Thank You Tony Danza

I had a rattle under the car, it turns out the I-pipe was hitting the g-load brace. Check that first, since its cheap to fix.

Its like a stamped peice of sheet metal with 2 bolts on each side which attach the floor pans arcoss the drive shaft tunnel. Its found right after the I-pipe enters the driveshaft tunnel. Maybe some call it just a crossmember? My exhaust was boucing off of it when the engine torqued at certain RPM's.
