rattling noise near transmission?

When my car is running in neutral(never listened to it in gear) I can hear this rattlying or maybe like a tap, tap, tap noise coming from underneath the car, but when I step on the clutch the noise goes away. The noise is near the transmission or where the transmission meets the engine, hard to tell. But my clutch seems to be catching just fine. Anyone know what this might be?

Yeah, I believe this is common in our cars. Mine does the same thing. It is especially noticable when I'm in neutral in a drive-thru restaurant waiting for my food. Best place listen for noises in my opinion...

Re: rattling noise near transmission?

I had a brand new input shaft with bearings installed last year, but I've still got the noises.
