rattling/knocking in transmission

So i have a 97 camaro z28 355 lt1 with t56 transmission.. there is a rattling or knocking noise that sounds like its coming from the transmission.. when the clutch is not pushed it it makes the noises but when i push my clutch in it goes away.. only happens in nutruel.. the car shifts into every gear fine and grabs them fine.. and while im driving its almost like its back fireing really bad or jerking when i drive it.. in any gear it does this... and when this happens my car feels gutless like it lost its power or something is just absorbing it... i heard this could be a bad input shaft bearing or a throw out bearing.. any suggestions or whats the difference between the 2
