Re: Rattle Under Car

It could be the exhaust if it isn't welded. My '02 Z28 has corsa exhaust on it and for awhile it was welded...used to rattle like no other against the driveshaft, especially with a rough idle. It could also be clutch chatter if you have an M6...try sticking in the clutch and see if it goes away. Those are the only two things I can think of at the moment. Good luck.

Re: Rattle Under Car

mine rattled against the pointless brace up by the tranny, and where it turns up by the axle in the back, my g/f's rattled where it turns down once it has passed over the axle, so maybe check all of those points

Re: Rattle Under Car

While the car is cold, get under and tap somethings with a plastic hammer. Make sure you tap the cat well too, the internals are prone to cracking and rattling inside.

Did you read my reply to your last post about the alternator?

Re: Rattle Under Car

You need to get under the car and have a look. Run your hands along and around your entire exhaust (when cold of course). Any place in your exhaust that is touching something else might be it.

Like me however, if nothing is touching. Bang your cats with a rubber hammer or the palm of your hand. The internals of a cat can break apart and rattle. And I mean rattle. Mine did this and I must say it was the most annoying sound I have ever heard from my car. It sounded like a rock in my exhaust.

If you narrowed it down to your cat.. replace it. Mine finaly gave way and clogged completely.

Ef'n exhaust shop that welded my cat on used so much slag that it probably over heated the cat and it cracked
