I could be wrong on this but doesnt hydraulic lifters start to collapse a 6800 rpms? Any ways the cam pulls to 6700 rpms. I never said im not goin to go with better heads later jus not right now, i have 2 spun bearings so im gonna try to build a good bottom end thats gonna last awile. I kno the heads i got are not the best but there not to bad, i can always swap heads out with a lil more ease than the bottom end. On the gear thing my nearest 1/4 track is about 3 hours away, so ill prolly be 1/8 racing. Wasnt there a 355 guy running in the 10's tho whit steeper than 4.56's? Anyways i do apprecate the feed back.

I think it's going to be more based on the spring pressure and cam lobes than it is just your basic rpm.

The guy running 10's was probably running a solid roller cam, or a real high revving hydraulic cam. I think you should look into a drag calculator before picking a gear ratio. You need to know your tire height, max rpm potential for the cam, and gear ratio along with an expected MPH through the traps on and off the bottle. If you want to set up the car for 1/8 mi. that's fine, but just know that you won't be optimized for full 1/4 mi when/if that time comes. You may want to consider some serious traction/suspension mods to be able to hook up with 4.56/4.88's on the squeeze and still be able to pull a good 1/8th time. Otherwise you'll just be spinning the entire way.
