Ram Air Question

I recently bought an SS hood for my 1994 Camaro with a ram air box. I was just wondering if there were any problems with rain getting into the intake when you are driving in like a downpour on the highway. Does any water get into the intake?

if its a stock hood it should have baffles in it. also being that its an SS the air doesn't directly go into the intake like the WS6 does so there is probably even less chance of water getting to the throttle body. i've had a WS6/hood airbox on mine for over a year now with no problems.

My hood and intake are gutted (no grills, baffles, or airbox ribs ) and we get some ugly monsoons here in the AZ summers and I have never had a problem in one of those storms. You can literally touch the filter with the hood closed.

The only thing i would worry about is if you put in a KN filter and the rain water dampens the filter enough to make the oil run into your maf and screw up the o2 sensor readings and completely flood one bank. Thats happened. I now just run a paper filter.

I've never had any problems with rain. I got a decent amount of water on my filter washing out the engine bay (with the opti covered) and it threw a SES code for something I forget what but the SES code went away the next time I drove it.

Stock SS Hood/Ram Airbox with K&N Filter.
