I have a 1997 ss camaro. Recently I noticed a smell from my car. It smelled like an overheated motor, but the thermostat showed that it never went over 1/2 way. I got it checked out and one of the plastic tanks in the radiator was cracked. It was replaced but I still smell that overheated smell every now and again. Anyone know if this is a problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

 

Could be residual coolant. My end tank cracked too but i never smelled it ... only noticed it when it started spittin coolant out from under the hood when it was warming up in my bay 1 day. Maybe you can pressure check your system, check all the hose ends and the like, if you dont see anything there and feel really adventurous you could check the heater core.. not too hard to take a look at.
