Radiator flush ?

I have a 1994 camaro z28 and had a flush done 2 years ago from a local shop. And now already the fluid is globing up and is like mud. and its still overheating in idle like it always does. Now i wanna flush the radiator and do it right to clean it out good and need some tips.

Also i read tonight about dex cool i dont know if i have this in my car or used to before the local shop flushed my radiator.because its says if dex cool and regualr green coolant is mixed it will glob up and clog the whole system . Tommorow i wanna flush the radiator . and see if its dex cool system by looking under hood for stickers. did my car orignal come with dexcool ?

So please leave some tips on flushing a 94 z28 where are the bleed holes in the block and drain plug on raditor ne advise for this type or car. i read be care full of the opti spark b/c its close to drain plug or something? also whats the best way to get bubbles out ? thanks alot Peace.

Dex-cool was standard from 96+. Although some 95s had them.

All you really need to do is get the coolant out of the small back up tank and then take your thermostat out and put the neck back on and drain the radiator and stick a hose in the radiator and start the car.. let it run for like 5 minutes and it will get pretty much everything out, I would refill it with some fluch and then do the water thing again with the hose to get all the crap out..

I flushed my radiator today and have some Questions i drained the radiator but , How do i drain the overfill bottle ? i sall no drain plug ? i tried flushing it by puting fresh water in the coolant fill tank should i have done this and only got about1 gallon of water in and 3/4 gallon on anti freze. How much does the system hold ?

well i burped the system by runiing the car and removed the heater bypass hose. and now its running cooler it says around 200 . still starts to over heat at idle in drive . but once the fans turn on i guess at 220 it will go down to 210. but it moves alot more now the gauge ? is this air bubbles ? HOW DO I MAKE SURE I GET ALL THE AIR OUT ? thanks

What I do is just blow in the top of the overfill bottle, it emptys eventually, its alot easier than disconnecting everything.. And to get all the air out just get what you can and the rest will empty out over time.. Just open one of the bleeder screws and do it when the car is hot, but not running, Thats what i do, air will be trapped up there, when its still pressureized though, take it for a drive and shut it off and open the bleeder screw nearest the battery, I never open the one nearest the thermostat being that its so close to the opti.. When you blow out the coolant in the res. tank just fill it with water and then blow it out again...

Thanks country for ur input . i dint try bleeding it that way i just open up the bleeder why it was running until fluid started coming out. and bubles came out of the coolant fill tank .also the overfill tank and coolant tank are the same thing ? the black plactic tank under the battery where u fill and check ur coolant right ?

also one more question ? where is the thermostat at iam not sure i wanna check and make sure its working good. also have u ever had problem with the low coolant light mines been stuck on for a year now and its always full . Thanks

It could be the same thing depending on how you word it.. The overflow tank is for "overfill".. I always check my level from the radiator cap. not the overflow tank. I would let it get to normal oper. temp and then I would shut it off and open the bleeder screws, do it a few times, once after each drive for about 4 times... All the air should be out, what ever space is in the radiator should be filled from the over flow tank resulting in a lower overflow tank level, keep it at the full cold, check it everynow and then, espescially after a radiator flush. But if you blow on the overflow tank to get the coolant out, have the radiator cap off and when you blow into it you should see coolant come out of the small hose thats in the top of the radiator. When the coolant stops coming out its empty...

EDIT:::: thermostat is under the throttle bodie.. Its directly beneath the rubber elbow, there are two bolts that hold the top on and there isnt a gasket there, just the rubber o ring around the thermostat, dont go buy a gasket, lol.. To see if its working take a mecury thermostat and put it in a pot with water on the stove, when the temp reaches the temp indicated on the thermostat you should see a difference in the way it was when you placed it in there when it was cold, if there isnt a difference then its bad, as long as your car doesnt over heat, it works..

Your welcome... Once it flushes out though, there shouldnt be any green coolant left, so it would have been ok to put in orange...
