Radiator Fill Runthrough, (need someone to read through this)
Okay, the other day, I notice a smell in the car that made me think, heater core. I drove it around since I didnt see a puddle in the pass. floor board. Well, soon after, the "check coolant" light comes on. I then notice the heater core, and I bypass it.
I fill the radiator up, and the overflow after I bypassed it, I let it warm up, then purged the 2 lines.
Now, the car will go for a long time before a check coolant light will come on, but if the car is running long enough it will.
Weird thing is, the overflow will still have fluid in it, but the radiator itself I guess is low.
Now tonight I removed the overflow and cleaned it, and I cleaned the coolant level sensor. I fill it up, run it for a min, purge the lines, and then I shut it off and it starts pouring fluid out of the over flow.
Could this be that my cap is bad and it is letting too much out of the radiator or what?

A cap is cheap and easy to put on. Get a new one if you suspect it. Also when you initially fill your radiator after it being drained or very low, be sure to open the bleeder screws so the air can purge. If you are having problems getting it full, check the radiator level several timed after you have driven and then the engine has cooled and top off the coolant. Eventually it will stay full.
