Now that's dumb. I was just talking about using air shears -- which don't allow you to cut more then thin sheet metal unlike an electric hacksaw or something similar. Plus these shears use an air compressor so no electricity, and are relatively cheap on eBay ~ $20.

If done right, the trap door method is very good. The only problem I can think of doing it this way (other then the risk of sparks) is that you don't clean the tank out but just throw a new pump in, so if your old pump went because of clogs this won't fix it but probaly make it worse.

call it dumb/stupid or whatever you want, again i have never seen a hacksaw cause a spark EVER!!
it worked for me...i'm still here

but i'll put a disclaimer just for LR. dont try this because there is a remote possibility of blowing yourself and many things around you up
but theres also a remote possibility of a hot smoltering nugget of metal melting a gas line while someone welding your exhaust under the car
theres also a remote possibility of cutting gas lines while doing the trap door method

and too be honest...i didnt tell anyone too do it my way now did I?

have a nice day fellas

Dumb as in I would not do it, but if I was on a deadline who knows I sure have done a lot of "dumb" things in the past, and to each his own. Glad it worked out for ya.

Ya damn sure posted it up there for some body to try and it's STUPID.
Cut my door with a nibbler because I have seen the results of a tank explosion.
