Re: racetonix fp harness?

The Racetronix harness minimizes the voltage drop caused by the smaller diameter wire used on stock harness has and provides power directly from the alternator. This translates to more voltage feeding the fuel pump. For your combo you won't be fuel starved so no need for the harness right now. If you have plans for more HP in the near future you may want the harness.

Re: racetonix fp harness?

I ordered just the pump (no harness) recently and it included everything that was needed to replace just the pump. Trap door method was pretty easy too. You don't need the harness right now IMO...

Unless ya are over 400RWHP ya don't need the harness.

I'd recommend the harness. You can have low system voltage problems with out the harness. The low voltage can effect all sorts of stuff like your pcm.

The harness is just for pump voltage.

I know but it will effect system voltage too. With out the harness my car would show a 12.5 on the charging gauge and with the harness it jumps to 13.5. The voltage thats on the charging gauge is what the PCM actually see's.

Re: racetonix fp harness?

true but if he has low voltage throughout the system (multiple accessories) then the harness is a good idea too have

trap door method is for suckers IMO
easiet way too do it is too cut the fillerneck about 5 inches from the tank with a hack saw and take flexible fuel filler coupler and hose clamp the neck back together
only thing you have too remove is the upper and lower panhard rod and let the rear end take up all the susp. slack then lower the tank too cut the neck and remove it
too reinstall it, attach the flex neck too the tank...put the tank back in place. slide the filler neck thru the gas door and into the flex neck coupler, tighten it down and close the gas door

i'll get pics of how i did mine

Ya sure like to live dangerous. Cutting on a tank that has had gas in it is STUPID.

Don't tell anybody to do that, they may get there *** blown up.

Re: racetonix fp harness?

would the harness really help voltage in my system? cause I upgraded all the charging system wires to 4ga have a 200amp alt and optima yellow top. when i first start the car it way above the middle of the charging gauge but after its been running for a while it drops below the center sometimes real low. I have 2 amps running on it but it doesnt matter if the radio is off or on. before i did all the charging system upgrades it never even went that low. i dont know if the bad fuel pump has something to do with it?

Yes... highly recommend the harness.

thats the same thing people have said about the trap door method since it started
i've used hacksaws for many years now and never seen one throw a spark....ever
sure as **** beats taking a power tool and risking cutting thru any of the 4 lines on top of the tank for the trap door method. where 3 of the 4 lines are partially plastic flex line
you can bet i wouldnt take a sawzall or cutting wheel too it. a hack saw can be done slowly

Ya are still STUPID to do any cutting on a tank with gas in it.
If ya cut on it with anything other than a plastic knife ya are subject to get a spark whether ya want to see it or not, that's about the most STUPID thing I have heard.
A tank that has had gas in it is like a 500lb bomb. Don't tell anybody to do it,they might get there *** BLOWN UP.

The trap door has about 1 1/2"-2" below the floor before ya get to the tank.

Ya got lucky to not have blown your *** up so don't come on here and try to make like it's alright to do 'cause someone may do it and blow their *** up.

Ya ain't got NO excuses it's STUPID.

Static electricity with the right conditions will blow one up.Ya can't see that either.

I would disagree. If you use air shears that cut without any sparks what-so-ever, the procedure is very safe. This took me about 1.5 hours to complete and I'm very happy with the results. You never cut into the tank itself just the thin sheet metal that's above it.

Also, I would highly recommend the harness.

You my friend didn't read all the posts.
This guy cut the fill neck of the tank under the car and was telling people that's how it should be done. Yea if ya want to chance blowing your *** up.
