"RACE ONLY" control arm question
"RACE ONLY" control arm question
I an going to have to replace my rear lower control arm's and I was wondering if anyone is running the BMR "RACE ONLY" control arms part # MCA001. They also have a "STREET" version available part # MCA002. What is the diff ? will their only be a diff in ride quality between the two ? I don't mind a rough ride because my car isn't driven everyday and will see alot of time at the track. If I use the "RACE ONLY" arms will it hurt anything if I decide to drive the car on the street every now and then ?
TTT
Anyone know if this is ok to use on the street ? and I know someone will most likely come back and say this is why they make two diff versions. One for the street and one for the track, but I would still like to use for the street if no one knows of any problems with doing it.
ANYONE ?

I just e-mailed BMR yesterday to ask that exact same question. I haven't got any response yet. When I do, I'll let you know.
It can't be any worse than running a rod ended 4-link on the street.
I also asked them if there would be any problem using them with a rubber bushing torque arm.

The only problem with running rod/rod LCAs on a street car is the noise they make. And to further confuse the issue, some make noise and some don't. You might want to check out the ones from LG:

They are supposed to make a lot less noise and are the ones that most hardcore road racers use. Also, I believe LG sells a version which is poly/rod so you can mount the poly side on the body and avoid some of the noise.
I would avoid the BMR MAC002 as they are poly/poly, which can cause bind under heavy cornering.

I just got my e-mail reply from BMR about this. Straight from them..."Rod end arms will sacrifice some ride quality, and they wear out faster than poly ends." "When they wear, they get excessively noisy and sloppy".
Spohn told me that the only reason you need adjustable arms are to locate the tire in the wheel opening better.
