Quite down exhaust please.

I just installed Jet-Hot LT's and the Hooker Y-Pipe (offroad) I am however not impressed with the sound. The car pulls hard (getting times this friday) but the raspy sound is
Is there anyway to quite down the sound. I will be adding an e-cutout in January, so I want it as quite as possible and when a Mustang pulls next to me I want him to wet his pants when I press the cutout button
I have the Flowmaster American Thunder catback BTW.
And I just placed an order for 1 Dynatech 3" cone which I will stick in the I-pipe.
Any other tips are VERY welcome!

From all that I've heard, the Flowmaster is one major cause of your problem.

People are MUCH happier with the Hooker cat-back with the longtubes. I haven't read of one person that doesn't like their hooker on the LT's, but I've read many who don't like the Flowmaster with LT's.

The cone will help too.

If it's still too bad after the Hooker cat-back($280) and the cone, you're going to have to look into putting a cat or two in.

I have the jethots, ORP, and the flow catback and think it sounds great. Get people I don't know telling me so on the street. I did however cut the turndowns out and put tips on the pipes for the neighbors. I wouldn't describe mine as raspy if you define raspy as the ricey sound. Maybe that would help.

My greatest disgust is the sound you get when let's say you go to red line in 4th gear and you let go of the throttle. The sound it makes then is just horribly raspy. It sounds like a 2 cycle motorbike.
Help me please!!!!!! I will discard the flows if they are the cause but I'd hate to get the Hooker Catback and have it do the same thing.

The Hooker sounds really smooth, has a nice sound to it at full throttle, but real docile at part throttle around town and almost 0 resonance while cruising. Great catback.

If you want to quiet things down a bit put a bullet inline before the rear axle. If you really want to quiet it down a lot, put a Moroso spiral twister bullet in there.

HMM...I love the deceleration sound of my setup. I do that on purpose just to hear it. No popping, sounds like classic muscle to me. Wish I had a sound clip for you. I think cutting the turndowns out eliminated some back pressure or something. I would do this first before you spend the $. If still not satisfied, you could do the borla version with the plates to change the sound at will.

My Flowmaster was loud and raspy like you descirbed, but I changed to the Hooker Catback and it did quite it down a little, but its not raspy anymore and just sounds better than my Flowmaster. All you would need is the muffler since you already have the 3" pipe and its only like $80.00. I say try the the Hooker.

My set up was way to loud for my taste. Hooker long tubes, custom 3 1/2" exhaust and spintech muffler. I bought the Hooker large bore exhaust tips . This made the ride more enoyable.
