quietest muffler
quietest muffler
that i can possibly fit right behind a O/R y-pipe?
right now it is longtubes, y-pipe, into an 18inch dynomax bullet muffler. i need something that is less obnoxious.
is there such thing as a quiet bullet muffler?
or are there any small rectangle ones?
thanks in advance

Re: quietest muffler
guess i need to rephrase this.
there is no catback on the car, so the muffler needs to be able to go underneath without causing clearance issues. directly behind the ypipe.

Re: quietest muffler
was living in ND and due to there winters mine got all jammed up, so i either had to pay a muffler shop to repair it or rip it off. i chose to do the later.
when i moved down, i could not fit it in the car, so it was left behind
i just need a muffler that will not be so obnoxious.

Re: quietest muffler
I thought that one of the main reasons to own a rear wheel drive, V8 powered muscle car was to be able to hear on the street? Stock muffler would be the quietest but why would you want that?

And trust me, I know what loud is. My '85 Firebird had 2.5" true duals with two-chamber Flowmasters and turndowns, and my Z used to have a 3" Flowmaster with no CAT. It was cool for about a day and then I got sick of it. I finally put the Hooker on, which quieeted it down, but it was still pretty loud. I finally put the bullet on, which didn't quiet it down as much as I'd like, but it works. Remember, loud !=fast, especially on newer cars. Hell, you can't even tell my boss' CTS-V is running at WOT, but you can sure feel it!
Re: quietest muffler
it was cool or whatever for the last 2 years, now i am sick of it. just want something a lil milder. really just want to put something in the dynomax bullet place.
so a quiet bullet will work.
eventually i will get another catback for the car, but i have other places my money needs to go to at the moment.

Re: quietest muffler
I went for the Corsa. It too is too loud. Nicely built and engineered but too loud! I added a Moroso spiral-flow after the CAT through its still too loud. IF I had it to do over again it would be stock exhaust and an electric cutout. Ted
Re: quietest muffler
They do make the Dynomax Ultraflo rounds. Basicly the same design as a bullet, but it has a larger diameter case for better sound control. The link below is for a 3".
