Quietest gears??

I have heard many stories of bad gear wine on some gears. Just want some opinions on which gears to get. they will be 3.73's. Which ones do you have experiences with and which one do you believe it the best?

I think the amount of gear wine can be adjusted, it has something to do with how the pinion is set up against the ring.

From what I have read, Richmonds wine pretty good, GM/Motive are supposed to be just like stock. I am going to give Sierra Gear a try, from what I heard from the 4x4 guys they are just like the Motive gears, quiet, strong and the only thing I could find in 4.11's and not 4.10's.

Is there any advantage to switching carriers? I have the 2.73's (2 carrier). I think switching the carriers is not too expensive.....like 20bucks.

Also wich one is GM gears? Is it Motive?

My vote is Strange Gears. Like stated earlier the proper installation is the key to avoid whine.

Yes Motive is a GM gear company. GM has their own gears too(OEM). Richmonds do have the most wine out of them all, but that is because they are a race cut gear.

I have GM 3.42's in my Z28 and they are silent. The Richmond 3.55's in my LX have light to moderate whine.

Mine only whine between 60 and 65mph in 6th gear at light throttle. Its wierd cause they will only do it when you barely touch the gas while in gear. I'm always hammer-down so i rarely hear it

um, I have a friend with richmond 4.11s in the stock 10 bolt and they have no wine whatsoever. My motives wine his richmonds do not, the guys who are saying that their richmonds wine must not have shimmed the gears right. They key to noise free operation is shimming the gears correctly.
