Quick Question Regarding Valve Adjustment

Im going to be adjusting my valves tonight, with the car running. Im going to put a 1/4 turn past zero lash (Trust me I know how to find zero lash). Im running stock comp replacement lifters. After I find zero lash, And I shut the car off to put the preload on, does it matter if the valve is closed or open?

If you are using the "engine running method", you don't shut it off to do the preload, you do it while the engine is running. That's why the method has that name.
