Quick Question on power steering pump removal....

All the manuals I have consulted each say to drain the coolant and remove a couple of the coolant hoses to get the power steering pump out. Is it really necessary to do this? It looks to be a little tight with the hoses in the way, but I think I can get it out. Anyone removed this without removing the coolant hoses?

If you can do it without removing the coolant hoses then go for it. I think my coolant stuff was already out of the way because I was pulling the motor. You might need to rent a power steering pulley puller from autozone. The hard line is tricky to get on/off with the pulley in the way.

Cool deal, I was going to have to get the puller to press the new one in place, on the new pump. Thx Much!
