quick question on aluminum flywheels
quick question on aluminum flywheels
i know that there are alot of theories floating around about aluminum flywheels vs steel flywheels regarding which one is better for drag racing and which one is better for autocross. It makes sense that having a steel flywheel is benefit for off the line acceleration at the strip, but with an aluminum fw, wouldn't the benefit of having less roatating mass the rest of the way down the track quickly overcome the negatives of the al. fw. I just want to know if anyone has every actually tested any of this, or if it is just speculation on what people think would happen. Can anyone give me any real world comparisons between aluminum and steel. Does anyone have any gains at the strip or gains at the dyno??
By the way, my clutch is toast and 15,000 miles ago when i did my last clutch job i just simply picked up the LT4 pressure plate and clutch from slp, and i just replaced the fw with a stock piece from work. This time around i want to go with something that may help me pick up some time at the strip.
thanks for any input guys
